Meet Scottie Acres!

This week's interview features Scottie Acres Boutique.

Q. What kind of items do you sell? Mostly items made with Scottie fabrics.
Q. How long have you been engaged in your art/craft? Gosh . . . I’ve been sewing and crafting since I was little . . . way to many years ago for me to remember!
Q. Do you consider yourself a hobbyist or a professional craftsperson? Just a hobbyist.
Q. What inspires you? Scotties! New Scottie fabrics!
Q. Please share with us what a typical day is like in your workshop or studio. When I have the time I will sew from morning to night. The sewing room once again needs a cleanup as I pull fabrics out of stacks as they catch my eye and just create. I enjoy working on my own projects but have done many custom jobs.
Q. What keeps you company while you’re working on a project? Actually my Scotties do. They come in and lay near me or in the doorway watching my every move. Sometimes they come over and let me know they don’t want to be ignored. I also have a nice view out the windows right in front of my sewing machines. I get to watch the birds and squirrels and the occasional flock of turkeys or herd of deer go through the yard.
Q. What is your favorite task related to your art/craft? The sewing/creating part. And your least favorite task? Cutting things out. I wish I could find someone close by who likes that task.
Q. How do you promote your shop? Do you belong to other teams? use other sites? blog? I talk up my shop anywhere and everywhere I go. I pass out my business cards to everyone! Even at my day job I talk about Etsy. (I work in a fabric store and some of the customers also have Etsy shops.) I do have a blog. I belong to the BBEST of course and also Etsybloggers and WWWG teams.
Q. Related to your craft, tell us about a funny, strange or unusual situation you found yourself in. My husband and I are both model railroaders and attend train shows. At one of the train shows two women who did not know each other both spotted the Scottie bling sweatshirt that the other was wearing and said in unison, "You got that at Scottie Acres!"
Q. Do you have a favorite book? movie? favorite kind of music? I read all the time and always have, even as a child. I like all kinds of books but the one that has always been in my possession is the Bible. It always has a fascinating story to me and I never tire of reading it. I don’t see movies much anymore but one of the favorites that I remember was called “The Son-in-Law”. I love oldies, country, Celtic, organ music -- most music.
Q. Would you care to share any words of wisdom with other aspiring artists or crafters? Do what you love and love what you do. If you don’t enjoy it then it’s time to move on.

Now that you know her a little better, please leave a comment for ScottieAcres!

Dayna's items are wonderful. I purchased several for Christmas gifts this year. In fact, I bought one of those bling t's for a Scottie owner. She loved it. Great interview! Best wishes to you!
